The event recognised the dedication, compassion and professionalism of the City of Wolverhampton Council run service, which was awarded the highest possible rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) earlier this year.
Ernest Bold provides overnight short break support for adults with learning disabilities and plays an important role in supporting families and carers across Wolverhampton. The service was rated Outstanding overall by the CQC, with Outstanding ratings for the Caring and Well led inspection areas and Good ratings for Safe, Effective and Responsive.
Inspectors praised the exceptional, person centred and proactive support provided by staff, highlighting how the service promotes independence, improves quality of life and delivers positive outcomes for people using the service. Inspectors also recognised the strong culture within the team and the leadership that underpins its success.
Guests at yesterday's event enjoyed speeches and entertainment including a special dance performance by pupils from the nearby Stowlawn Primary School, and had the opportunity to reflect on the positive impact the service has on the lives of people who use it and their families. A commemorative poster celebrating the Outstanding achievement was also unveiled.
Councillor Linda Leach, Cabinet Member for Adult Services, said: "Achieving an Outstanding rating is a remarkable accomplishment and one that everyone connected with Ernest Bold should be incredibly proud of.
"The service makes a real difference to people's lives every day, helping adults with learning disabilities to develop independence, build confidence and enjoy opportunities and experiences that matter to them, while also providing valuable support and respite for families and carers.
"It was wonderful to bring together the people who use the service, their families, carers, colleagues and partner organisations to celebrate this achievement. Too often the incredible work taking place in adult social care happens quietly behind the scenes, so it is important that we take opportunities to recognise and celebrate success.
"This Outstanding rating reflects the dedication of the entire team and the strong relationships they have built with the people they support. We are committed to building on this success and continuing to provide the highest quality care for Wolverhampton residents."
Ernest Bold is one of a range of services provided by the council to help people live fulfilling, independent lives while supporting carers and families across the city.
