Parents and guardians of children who are due to start secondary school for the first time in 2018 have less than three weeks to apply for their place.

The deadline for applications - 31 October, 2017 - is rapidly approaching and parents are being urged to complete theirs online today.

More than 50% of parents and guardians have already submitted applications, and letters are being sent out to those that have not yet completed the process.

Councillor Claire Darke, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Education, said: "If your child is in their final year at primary or junior school, you must now apply for their place at secondary school.

"The closing date for applications is the end of this month so time really is of the essence.

"The application process is quick and easy and over half of parents have already completed their applications. If you haven't, please get your skates on as ensuring your application is made before the deadline will increase the chance of your child securing a place at a preferred school."

To apply for a school place, please visit Type=articles;Articleid=2548;Title=School admissions;. Applications are made through a secure website, and can be viewed and edited online up to the closing date of 31 October, 2017. Parents and guardians who apply online will be notified of their child's allocated school place on 1 March, 2018.

Councillor Darke added: "With 89% of schools now rated either Good or Outstanding by Ofsted, there has never been a better time to go to school in the City of Wolverhampton."
