The city council is delighted to be selling the country's fastest growing brand of coffee.

A wide range of Costa drinks are offered including cappuccino, latte, Americano, mocha, espresso, macchiato, tea and hot chocolate.

From June, Costa's range of iced drinks will also be available.

The opening hours of the refreshment counter have also been extended from 7.30am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday.

The facility is open to the public as well as council staff and customers can now use credit and debit cards to pay as well as cash.

The council is constantly looking at ways of modernising and providing a better service to the public as well as increasing potential revenues as it tackles the most severe financial challenge in its history.

The authority has to make savings of £123 million over the next 5 years due to Government grant cuts.

The council believes offering Costa drinks as well as enhanced customer service will attract more customers and generate more income.

Councillor John Reynolds, cabinet member for city services, said: "I'm delighted to be able to offer our customers drinks from the fastest growing coffee brand in the country.

"There is a wide selection available and our staff have been trained to Costa's high standards. Since we started selling the new products last week, takings are already up. We have done this to offer customers more of what they want."
