The annual Armed Forces Day commemorations will take place on Saturday 28 June, 2014, giving the country an opportunity to pay tribute to serving troops, veterans, cadets and their families.
In Wolverhampton, there will be a parade through the city centre of regular, reserve, veteran and cadet forces led by the Pipe Band of the West Midlands Fire Service.
The parade will march from Wulfruna Street at 12.40pm and make its way to St Peter's Square where an outdoor drumhead service - the traditional form for a religious service attended by troops in the field - will take place.
The parade will follow a route from Wulfruna Street to Princes Square, Lichfield Street, Queen Square and Exchange Street to St Peter's Square. As a result,
Wulfruna Street will be closed to all traffic from 12pm on Saturday 28 June, and there will be minor alterations to bus services along the parade route. Wulfruna Street will reopen at approximately 12.55pm.
In the build up to Armed Forces Day, the Mayor of Wolverhampton will join civic dignitaries and military representatives past, present and future to come together to raise the Armed Forces Day flag on Monday 23 June at 11am at the piazza outside the Civic Centre.
