Wolverhampton and Bilston will be celebrating all things English as they mark St George's Day.

Host and DJ Jim Duncan will be playing patriotic tunes in Church Street, Bilston, tomorrow (Saturday 20 April, 2013) from 11.15am before the City of Wolverhampton Brass Band takes over between 12pm and 2pm.

Then on St George's Day itself, Tuesday 23 April, 2013, Jim will be playing in Queen Square, Wolverhampton, before Chris Carmell's New Vintage Jazz Band plays some foot-tapping pieces from 12pm until 2pm.

Award-winning free range Packington Pork sausages supplied by Walter Smith will be handed out for free at both events, while stocks last.

Meanwhile, Wolverhampton Mayor Councillor Christine Mills is holding a fundraising event of her own on Tuesday to raise money for her chosen charities, Compton Hospice, Wolverhampton Samaritans and Help for Heroes.

It includes a two-course lunch of bangers and mash followed by dessert and a sing-a-long to a selection of patriotic songs with City Organist Steve Tovey.

Tickets for the Mayor's fundraiser are priced at £7.50 per person and places must be booked in advance. For more information and to reserve tickets please call the Mayor's Office on 01902 554090 or 554091 or e-mail mayoral@wolverhampton.gov.uk.
