The City of Wolverhampton's Cabinet Recourses Panel has approved the charges for the new garden waste service.

The new and extended season service will start in February 2019.

The City Council will offer a fortnightly garden waste collection service for an annual subscription of £35 (£17.50 concession rate.)

A new garden waste bin will be delivered to those signed-up to the new service and will be collected on an alternate week basis between February and December.

Councillor Steve Evans, Cabinet Member for City Environment at City of Wolverhampton Council said: "Like many councils, we are having to become more financially self-sufficient due to government funding cuts.

"We will be bringing in a new garden waste service with an option for residents to pay an annual fee, if they wish to continue to use the service.

"I believe the new extended service will be much more efficient and meet the needs of our many residents who enjoy spending time in their garden.

"Through these changes, the council is able to meet its agreed budget whilst investing to provide a platform for improved waste service changes.

"We are hopeful residents understand the financial pressures we face and by charging for the service, rather than stopping it, we can keep offering a garden waste service to the people of Wolverhampton."

Details on how to order a new garden waste bin will be announced in October.
