Following a statutory consultation on proposed changes to secure tenancies, City of Wolverhampton Council has approved revised Introductory and Secure Tenancy Agreements. A formal Notice of Variation will be issued to tenants during May 2026.

The updated agreements reflect new regulatory requirements and use clearer, more consistent wording. They strengthen the rights and responsibilities of both tenants and the Council and include revised provisions relating to anti-social behaviour, domestic abuse, repairs and maintenance, greater flexibility around pets, data protection and communication preferences. These changes are intended to help tenants feel safer and more secure in their homes; while clearly setting out the standards they can expect from their landlord.

The revised tenancy agreements will take effect from 1 July 2026. This date is not less than four weeks after the Notice of Variation has been issued. Tenants do not need to sign a new agreement, as the revised agreement will automatically replace the existing agreement from this date.
