The problem of rough sleeping is by no means unique to Wolverhampton, so at the same time as identifying local solutions that work for our city and its specific needs, we are working with the West Midlands Combined Authority to tackle rough sleeping as part of a coordinated regional response.
Home is a secure base for life.
Without this people are unable to lead settled lives, maintain employment and provide an environment that will help their children escape poverty. Prolonged periods of homelessness can develop or exacerbate existing vulnerabilities, such as substance misuse and mental health conditions, which destabilise family and support networks.
We aim to ensure that no-one will sleep rough on the streets of Wolverhampton.
Our aim is to:
- provide a rapid response to new rough sleepers
- provide support based on everyone's needs, meaning no-one needs to spend a second night on the street
- help rough sleepers to access a place of safety
- reconnect rough sleepers from outside the area with their community.
If you think someone may be rough sleeping; you can help by letting us know about them.
