The Emergency Duty Team provides an emergency service for urgent social care issues that arise out of working hours.
If the situation is life threatening or a crime is being committed please call 999.
- 5.00pm - 8.00am Monday to Thursday
- 4.30pm Friday - 8.00am Monday (24-hour service at weekends)
- Bank holidays (24-hour)

- Child safeguarding
- Adult safeguarding
- Emergency adult respite
- Emergency package of care
- Emergency housing
- Mental Health Act Assessments
What happens when you call us?
Your call will be answered by a 24-hour control call handler who will need the name, date of birth, address of the individual you are calling about and your phone number.
They will pass this information onto the social worker, who will ring you back and request more detailed information
What can you expect?
Please note your call will not always be actioned immediately. The social worker handles a high volume of cases and will prioritise your call.
The team is comprised of highly qualified social workers and support workers, who have extensive skills and knowledge in handling emergency out of hours cases.
They will take the appropriate action with your call. This may mean providing advice and information to keep the situation safe until the next working day. The social worker will only visit in urgent cases.
