Do some background research on the Limited Company (Ltd) or Business. A Limited Company should be registered on Companies House as actively trading with filed annual accounts and returns.
Check customer reviews, but bear in mind that these can be faked. If you suspect that this is the case, please report this to Citizens Advice Consumer Service.
Check the Environment Agencies Permit Register for their Waste Carrying, Storage and Disposal Permits. Ask for a Waste Transfer Notice and a receipt for payment. Please note that legal action could be commenced against you if a Waste Transfer Notice isn’t obtained and your waste is subsequently found to be fly-tipped.
Contact City of Wolverhampton Council if you are storing the skip on the road and footpath (Highway) as a permit from the Council is required in advance. Tel 01902 551155. E-mail Customer.services@wolverhampton.gov.uk
Make sure you order the correct size skip for your waste and that the skip isn’t overfilled. If the skip is too full or too heavy (Overloaded) you will be in breach of contract and the Company or Business can refuse collection.
Please note that you can’t put certain items into a skip as these require specialist disposal. Banned items include asbestos, mattresses, fridges/freezers, gas cylinders, paints, solvents, liquids, batteries, tyres, fluorescent tubes and plasterboard. Banned (Prohibited) items should be stated in the Terms and Conditions of Hire.
If you are filling it with any food waste or when it reaches the level mark (max capacity), cover it over with a tarpaulin to prevent pests and overloading.
