The former Brickkiln Community Centre was relaunched as Cherry Street SEND and Sensory Hub in January 2025.

Our vision is for the hub to be a purposeful space for our families of children and young people with SEND where they can access SEND support from education, health and social care services.

SEND Friendly Stay and Play
  • From September 2025, Wolverhampton Universal Service Practitioners (USP) will hold two SEND friendly stay and play sessions at Cherry Street SEND and Sensory Hub every Monday (term time only), one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Big Top Babies

Big Top Music will be delivering new monthly sessions for babies and children with additional needs as part of the SEND friendly Stay and Play at Cherry Street on the following dates:

  • 17th Nov 2025
  • 15th Dec 2025
  • 12th Jan 2026
  • 2nd Feb 2026
  • 2nd Mar 2026

Sessions are designed to be fun, inclusive and a supportive time for babies, children and parents to experience music together. The sessions are delivered by two musician-practitioners who are specialists in SEND and Early Years. 

Families can book the session via the SEND stay and play booking link.

The session will take place in the main hall and the sensory room will be set up for the stay and play for any children that need a break or quieter space.

SEND Family Help Team Drop-in session
  • A friendly drop-in session for parents and carers in a relaxed and informal setting to get care support advice and guidance.
  • No referral is needed, just drop in during the session time. The team will consider what support is needed for the parents, carers and any children within the household, taking a whole family approach.
  • When: Every Monday, 9:00am – 12:30pm

Embrace Autism
  • A monthly support group for parents and carers of autistic children to share experiences, seek help and guidance and get input from specialists.
  • The Embrace Autism support group meets in the main hall at Cherry Street SEND and Sensory Hub one Thursday each month from 9.30-11.30.

Pre- and post-autism diagnosis support (Under 5s)
  • Specialist teacher, Rachel Wright from the Special Needs Early Years (SNEY) team holds half termly drop-in sessions for parents awaiting a diagnostic outcome through the Under 5s Autism Pathway
  • A parent workshop called, ‘Understanding Your Child's Autism’ (2 half day sessions) also takes place once a half-term
  • Parents and carers receive an invitation to attend this workshop as part of the post-diagnosis support offer following a diagnosis through the Under 5s Autism Pathway
SEND Early Identification and Support’s parent and carer offer
  • SEND Early Identification and Support offer a range of workshops, coffee mornings and drop-in sessions to support families of children with SEND

Wolverhampton IASS SEND Surgery
  • From September 2025, IASS will be holding a weekly SEND surgery for parents and carers of children with special educational needs (SEN) at Cherry Street
  • Tuesday 1.00-4.30pm starting Tuesday 9th September (term time only)

SEND in mainstream School Nurses health workshops
  • The SEND in Mainstream School Nurses have confirmed a year of dates for their parent health workshops, supporting parents and carers of young people with SEND and unmet health needs.
  • The workshops will cover four health topics: sleep and dental, sensory difficulties, toileting and constipation, and restricted eating.

Specialist Health Visitor for SEND
  • The specialist health visitor for SEND will support families when children under 5 are not meeting their age-appropriate milestones.
  • Clinics are held in the sensory room at Cherry Street Hub every Tuesday and Thursday morning by prior appointment only.

HY5! Youth form
  • Wolverhampton’s youth forum HY5! is a group of 11-25 year olds who know what it’s like to have additional needs and disabilities and have a passion to be the voice of change.
  • The group meet every fortnight at Cherry Street Hub on a Tuesday from 5.30pm – 7.00pm

Big Top Musical Adventure music sessions
  • In partnership with Wolverhampton Music Service and Wolverhampton Family Hubs, Big Top deliver a variety of music-making sessions for children and young people with learning disabilities who live, or attend a school, in Wolverhampton.
  • From September 2025, music sessions will take place at Cherry Street hub on a Wednesday evening

Give Us a Break
  • Give Us a Break provides activities during school holidays for children and young people aged 2 – 25 with severe and complex learning difficulties and physical impairments. They deliver a number of their sessions from Cherry Street Hub at weekends and during school holidays.

British Sign Language (BSL) Tuition
  • Danielle Smith, Deaf Tutor and qualified BSL user from the Sensory Inclusion Service, offers a 15-week programme for beginners to learn basic BSL
  • There are two sessions to choose from on a Thursday afternoon and evening, one from 1.00-2.00pm and another from 4.30-5.30pm

Opening times

Cherry Street SEND and Sensory Hub offers a range of workshops, support groups and drop-in sessions from Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 4.30pm. (Some sessions may be available outside of these times.)
