    Why do I have to re-register to be able to see my online account?

    The City of Wolverhampton Council is committed to providing the best possible services to our citizens.  The contract for the current service is approaching its end of life and following that commitment we have identified a more cost-effective solution.

    What is online billing?

    Online billing is a secure web portal similar to 'online banking' that allows City of Wolverhampton Council customers to view their account information in real-time, from any location, on any device at your convenience.  The information available includes current & previous year bills, current instalment plans and next payment date & amount. You can use this service to make a Council Tax payment and also sign up for paperless billing which means you will receive all future council tax bills electronically.

    Who can use online billing?

    Any resident within the city who pays Council Tax to the City of Wolverhampton Council can sign up to see their account online and for paperless billing

    What can I do through online billing?

    You can view a range of information relating to your Council Tax account. The service allows you to:

    • view and print copies of your Council Tax bills and statements 
    • check to see that any payment you've made has been entered into your account 
    • sign up for paperless billing

    Accessed via your personal log in details, residents are given a digital choice in how they access council services. It means that you don't need to spend time on hold or queuing up to ask a simple query and can quickly login to access instant and up-to-date account information.

    Viewing your bills and statements online will also help us to use taxpayers' money more effectively and efficiently by cutting down on administration costs, such as printing and postage. Using less paper will help to save the environment.

    Is it safe to use?

    The City of Wolverhampton Council is committed to protecting your privacy online and takes every effort to ensure your personal details are kept safe, secure and used for specific lawful purposes. Data held in respect of your account/s is held in accordance with current Data Protection legislation in force.

    Online billing is secure and requires you to register and carry out appropriate levels of authentication before any secure account data can be accessed. Although we take steps to ensure our websites and links are virus free, you are always advised to ensure that you have adequate anti-virus protection on your computer. You are also responsible for keeping your Username and Password confidential to prevent unauthorised viewing of your account. Please contact us as soon as possible if you suspect either of the above has been compromised.

    How do I sign up and use online billing?

    Before you start, you'll need:

    • Your council tax account number 
    • Your postcode

    You will receive an email that you have to action within 24 hours to validate your email address.  This will only need to be done the first time you go online. Once you have requested access to an account, you'll be sent an email confirmation (usually within a few minutes). 

    Once registered you can amend your settings to switch to paperless billing.  To do this you need to update your account details.  Just click on the "Update" link

    I have forgotten my username/password. What should I do?

    If you have forgotten your username or password you can request that these are reset using the links on the sign in page.

    What are the benefits of receiving paperless bills?

    You will get real-time email alerts when bills are generated on your account.  You will also save the Council printing and postage costs which helps us to manage running costs.

    What happens if I move to a new house?

    Once you have registered for online billing you will be able to access all of your council tax accounts within the City of Wolverhampton area.  If you move address and remain within the City of Wolverhampton area your new bills will automatically be made available to you through your secure login.  If you have chosen paperless billing you new bill will also be issued this way.
