The first week of April will be dedicated to food and fun in Wolverhampton with the council organising a week of activities to help people still enjoy healthy, tasty food on a budget during the cost-of-living crisis.

Kicking off tomorrow (Saturday 1 April) is the ‘Race Against Hunger’ where Trussell Trust foodbank supporters all around the UK will be taking part in 5 kilometre events to support local Foodbanks.

Participants can take part in a virtual event, plan their own 5 kilometre route or why not come along to one of the local parkruns at 9am at either East Park or West Park to run, jog or walk the course as part of the Saturday morning parkrun.  At East Park volunteers will be collecting food donations for local foodbanks.

The community shops, which the council helped launch across the city, will be on hand to tell people about how they can get great value groceries and save at least £30 a week on average on their weekly shop.

And our community chefs, who hold regular cooking and advice sessions in the community shops, will also hold taster sessions and cookery lessons throughout the week to show people how they can make those groceries go further.
