Crisis payment online application supports residents of Wolverhampton who are experiencing unexpected financial crisis. Your application will automatically opt you in and you will receive contact to support your long-term financial wellbeing, and exploration of wider entitlements that may be available to you.

Please note, the award amounts will vary based on your personal circumstances, and you may be referred to an alternative offer to meet your direct financial need, this will be discussed with you.

You will be required to provide essential information to support your application:

• Current bank statement
• Council Tax Letter or Tenure evidence
• Evidence of need
• Utility provider details (if requested)

Awards that may be awarded are up to:

• Food Support: Adult: £40; Couple: £60; Addition for each child: £30
• Utilities: Adult: £40; Couple: £60; Addition for each child: £20

An exciting new concept in helping residents with anything and everything related to food, Pocket to Plate currently offers online weekly recipes and ideas.

You can tune in every Thursday to get a taste (see what we did there?) of Pocket to Plate for yourself with Wulfrunian TikTok cooking sensation and Sunday Times bestselling author Mitch Lane and community chefs from the WV10 Consortium, Prince and Simon.

They create recipes and cooking tips every week for followers on youtube, instagram and tiktok.

You can follow now on those platforms @pocketoplate and there’s always new advice on developing food skills, how to do set pieces like a decent ‘fakeaway’ and themed recipes to help make the most of seasonal food events.

We want you to get involved by challenging the chefs and suggesting what you want them to cover each week.

This City Homemakers project launched in September 2025, giving Wolverhampton residents the chance to give their homes some love and attention  without having to splash out on expensive new tools.

Leader of the council, Councillor Stephen Simkins launched Wolverhampton Tool Library with partners All Saints Action Network (ASAN) at their All Saints Road base.

Residents can borrow anything from power drills and screwdrivers to larger items like carpet cleaners and electrical saws, as well as garden tools to make their homes look great inside and out.

There’s a nominal subscription fee to join the Wolverhampton Tool Library, but users can access up to three tools for four days at a time, potentially saving hundreds of pounds on buying new equipment to improve their homes.

To celebrate the launch, the first 50 residents to sign up will receive their annual membership free of charge.  

ASAN’s talented volunteers have also made a number of wooden donation boxes, which will be located with City Homemakers partners across the city, for people to donate surplus tools they no longer require, but which are still in good working order.

Too Good To Chuck is a great community initiative that enable household furniture to be reused, restored and recycled so it can be re-loved.

Donate:

You can donate you reusable and restorable furniture, crockery, and bikes at Household Waste and Recycling Centre (HWRC) at Shaw Road and Anchor Lane.

Access:

If you are a resident of Wolverhampton who would like to access pre-loved items through Too Good To Chuck, please complete the application form, which can be found in the Downloads section, and send it to  edbridgewood@gmail.com

Once application is received you should receive contact from the team within 72 hours.

You may be invited to the visit the TOO GOOD TO CHUCK delivery site in Wolverhampton to select your items.

Spokes and Skills is a six‑week bicycle repair and maintenance course, offering practical, hands‑on training to improve skills and confidence- and access to a Bike at the end!
