Wolverhampton-based Armoloy UK were incorporated in 1989. The company supply to the oil and gas, power, energy and aerospace industries, including packaging and tooling businesses. The beneficial properties of Armoloy include its hardness with its corrosion resistance in combination with its natural slipperiness. This gives it great resistance to abrasive wear and galling. "Armoloy® is a low-temperature, multi-state process of electrocoating based upon chrome-plating technology". Armoloy will not chip, crack or peel under normal operating conditions.

Wolverhampton-based Armoloy UK has over 50 years of specialized experience in plating. For the past 2 years the Wolverhampton Council’s Business Growth Team has been working with Kathryn Foster, Finance Director at Armoloy UK to secure £95,000 of grant funding under the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to invest in a new Chromic Acid Extraction and Scrubber system, ensuring that they remain at the forefront of chrome plating with the best facilities for the environment and their 25 employees. The funding ensured the company the security of a new contract, allowing them to take on larger components for new and existing customers. Armoloy is a proprietary process (a manufacturing process that others are forbidden to use, and a proprietary trademark (a name that only the owner can use) that has been in the UK since 1989. This experience, coupled with their proprietary plating bath chemistry, allows the company to provide a finished product that is believed to be superior to their competitors as no additional machining is required, and the part remains in tolerance. Armoloy is compatible with most ferrous and non-ferrous metals, allowing greater flexibility in choosing the base material.

Armoloy UK recommend this coating to solve unique business problems, saving time and money, with highly trained and experienced engineering staff that are able to help give solutions to the many problems companies struggle with daily.

Kathryn, Finance Director said “we like to aim for growth of about 5% each year, and with the inquiry of a new contract for larger components this creates an opportunity to expand the business. The expansion of the future project is specifically for a potential new customer in France for the nuclear energy industry but will also be utilised across all industries. The company investment in larger Chrome tanks will allow for component sizes that we previously couldn’t coat, so enabling the company to accept larger items, allowing us to coat any components over 4 metres in length. The grant support has enabled us to keep the cash flow fluid whilst engaging in new projects to keep the company both competitive and above the standards of other chrome plating businesses. It also helps to increase market penetration by enabling the business to take on jobs for both existing and new customers that previously had to be turned down”.
