From Monday 19 July 2021, as part of the governments easing of restrictions, there will be changes to attendance at funerals.
- Bereavement Services offices remain closed. Cremation and burial services are still being carried out.
- West Chapel – maximum of 90 mourners can attend a service, all must be seated - no standing.
- East Chapel – maximum of 77 mourners can attend a service, all must be seated - no standing.
- Free live webcast facility available. This will remain free until further notice.
- The number of mourners able to attend a burial, an interment of cremated remains or a witnessed scattering of cremated remains is unlimited.

- Council staff will wear face coverings while in the chapels.
- All cemeteries are open until 7.00pm every day until 30 September 2021.
Further information re: 19 July 2021:
- Families will still not be permitted to lower coffins into graves – This must still be carried out by the funeral director staff.
- Track and Trace Forms will no longer be required from 19th July 2021.
- Hand sanitisation stations will still be provided along with spare face coverings for those that require one.
- Funeral Director staff are required to wear face coverings whilst in the chapels and office.
- We advise mourners to wear face coverings given the close proximity of others, everyone should still follow Government guidance on social interactions.
- The Bushbury Crematorium office and the Book of Remembrance Room will remain closed to members of the public until further notice.
- Families will be allowed to carry out back filling of a grave, but should be advised that they must bring their own shovels.
