Key Stage 2 road safety resources

We have a range of resources aimed specifically at Key Stage 2 children, which can be requested or loaned free of charge.

Resources

A Guide to Bicycle Helmets

Tackles the importance of wearing helmets. We can supply posters and leaflets for children stressing the need to wear these important safety aids.

Speed Resource

A resource for years 5 and 6 which looks at the issues surrounding the speed of traffic in and around the local environment. This resource is available for loan to Key Stage Two teachers within the Wolverhampton area only.

Be Safe Be Seen Resource

A resource that focuses upon the need to be seen during both day and night. This resource is available for loan to Key Stage Two teachers within the Wolverhampton area only.

Seatbelt Simulator

A resource delivered by Road Safety Officers to schools in the Wolverhampton area. This resource practically illustrates to children the need to make sure they are correctly restrained whilst travelling in any moving vehicle.

The Green Cross Code

Is available as either a poster or leaflet for children.

Accident in Park Road

Is a video showing an accident happening in a real life situation.  The video encourages children to discuss the reasons for the accident - Whose fault is it?  Is there one person to blame?

Arrive Alive

The highway code for young road users.  This free booklet will help children to understand information they see on the highway and teach them safe behaviour.

Includes a big book, activity sheets and photographs.

Moving on to Secondary School

As pupils move from primary school to secondary school they face the challenges of a new school and new routes to and from school.  Moving onto Secondary School comprises a booklet for pupils, a leaflet for parents and a guide for teachers.

School Travelwise Website

A new website which aims to provide each year 6 pupil with a plan of a safer route from their home to their new secondary school. Visit www.schooltravelwise.org.uk for more information.

Essential crossing the road advice.

Bikeability Cycle Training

Year 6 pupils are able to participate in our Bikeability cycle training courses. The training takes place on local roads and teaches children to become safer cyclists and aware of other road users. It gives them the confidence to use quieter roads and cope with riding in traffic.

Activity Book 2

An activity book specifically aimed at key stage two children, with lots of fun activities and games for children to complete. All of the activities have a road safety theme.
