Transportation Network Management - Service standards         

Our role is to ensure that people using the highway network can travel in safety and without unnecessary delay. On this page you can see our service standards and view details of our past performance.

Service Standards - Our Commitment to You

We will take action within:

1 1/2 hours

  • to make safe damaged traffic signals.

2 hours

  • to repair or make safe dangerous faults on roads, footways and street lights. 
  • we aim to respond in good time to keep our strategic highways free of ice and deal with any build up of snow as weather conditions permit.

1 working day:

  • to repair or make safe safety fencing.
  • to repair key street lights, such as at busy junctions, groups of street lights and belisha beacons, subject to a live electricity supply being available.
  • to repair defects on roads or footways which could cause hazards.

3 working days:

  • to repair all other street lights subject to a live electricity supply being available.

5 working days:

  • to process a skip licence.
  • repair damaged/failed traffic signals.

10 working days:

  • to process scaffold licences.
  • to process all enquiries regarding the positioning of street lights.
  • to respond to all letters.

20 working days:

  • to process road opening permits.
  • to repair damaged non-illuminated signs.

2 months:

  • to repair damaged street nameplates following report.

We also aim to:

  • answer telephone calls within 6 rings.
  • meet personal callers who have made an appointment at the agreed time.
  • meet personal callers without an appointment as soon as possible.
