We are in the process of developing a new and improved Local Offer website - this will be available shortly.

SEND - Transport

Details about our transport policies for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities.

Policies and Guidance

On the right are links to various documents for downloading including our own local transport policies and guidance from the Department for Education for local authorities on post-16 transport to education and training.

Adults

Access to 'Assisted Transport' is only available if the need has been identified as part of a Community Care Assessment. The promotion of commonly available transport options will be encouraged, such as public transport, walking or mobilising with the use of aids either independently or with a support, people using their own vehicle, utilising transport assistance costs and concessionary travel.

Children

Wolverhampton city council must make a decision about whether the provision of transport for pupils of statutory school age is necessary to facilitate the attendance at a designated school. Transport deemed necessary must be provided free of charge.

Local Offer Can't find what you're looking for?
The Blue Badge scheme provides parking concessions to disabled people with mobility problems. You may be eligible if you're a parent of a child under three who has a specific medical condition that means they must always be accompanied by bulky medical equipment which is very difficult to carry, or need to be kept near a vehicle at all times to get emergency treatment when necessary.

You can get further information - or apply - on our Blue Badge scheme page.
