See The Independent Police Complaints Commission in Action

The first meeting in public of the Independent Police Complaints Commission will be held in Birmingham on March 30th.

The meetings have been opened up to allow members of the public the chance to find out more about the work of the IPCC which ensures that complaints against the Police are handled properly.

The meeting is being held between 9am and 1:30pm at the Novotel Hotel in Broad Street, Birmingham. Due to the limited number of seats in the venue, people wishing to attend the event must apply in advance and can do so at the IPCC website.

Although attendees will not be able to participate directly in the business of the Commission Meeting, there will be an opportunity to ask Commissioners questions at the end of the session.

The IPCC started on 1 April 2004.  It will oversee major changes to the way the police complaints system works in England and Wales. The new system is designed to raise standards, cut delays, increase public confidence and so transform the way police forces handle complaints from the public.
