Coastguard
As an island nation, the United Kingdom has nearly 10,500 miles of coastline which is protected by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.
The Agency works to:
- prevent the loss of lives at the coast and at sea
- to ensure that ships are safe
- prevent coastal pollution.
The MCA also carries out the Government's maritime and safety policies at sea and co-ordinates search and rescues.
Information and advice
Although Wolverhampton is 'land-locked', many people from the area visit the coast on holidays, day trips or for water sports.
