Flood codes
Information about flooding is issued by the Environment Agency as flood codes. These flood codes describe the action you should take and the damage and disruption expected.
The issuing of flooding alerts is dependent upon current or near-future river levels, ground conditions and weather forecasts from the Met Office.
The Environment Agency regularly monitor these factors and issue flood alerts where they feel there is a risk to homes, businesses or land.
Flood codes currently in force can be found on our latest flood alerts page.
