Residents are being urged not to miss out on the chance to earn at least £40 worth of rewards and claim a free fitness tracker as part of an exciting initiative exclusively open to adults living in Wolverhampton, with the deadline to sign up just days away.

The city was chosen by the Department of Health and Social Care and the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities to pilot the free Better Health: Rewards scheme, designed to see whether offering adults rewards and incentives will help them to eat better and increase their physical activity levels.

John Denley, Wolverhampton's Director of Public Health, said: "Already well over 25,000 residents have signed up to Better Health: Rewards – and if you haven't yet please make sure you do so as soon as possible, because the deadline is just days away.

"Remember, you'll have the chance to earn at least £40 worth of rewards, from money off your shopping to cinema tickets, gym passes and days out, just for making healthier choices. And if you need one, we'll even send you a free fitness tracker which is yours to keep.

"It's really easy to get started – just head to your app store and download the free Better Health: Rewards app, which will be available to download for the next few days only, set up your free account and sync it to your fitness tracker.

"Don't forget that before you can start earning rewards, you need to first complete the activities in your 'to do' list, including a few short surveys and wearing and synching your fitness tracker to the app every day for 5 days.

"Once you've done this, the first £10 worth of rewards will be unlocked and the app will start to generate a series of weekly challenges for you to choose from, through which you will be able to earn more points.

"Please also remember that, whenever you are doing some physical activity – like walking, riding a bike or doing housework – you’ll need to put the tracker in exercise mode so that it can capture your workout. And continue to sync your fitness tracker to the app on a regular basis, ideally every day, so that you can complete your challenges and earn points."

The app will be available to download until this Friday (31 March, 2023). For more information, please visit Better Health: Rewards.
