Tickets are now on sale for a tasty St George's Day celebration which will also raise cash for 3 local charities.

Wolverhampton Mayor Councillor Milkinder Jaspal is inviting people to join him to mark St George's Day on Wednesday 23 April, 2014.

He will be hosting a patriotic event in the Mayoral Suite to celebrate all things English, starting with bangers and mash and a delicious dessert.

There will also be entertainment from Miss Fortunes, a West Midlands based vocal harmony trio who will be performing an eclectic mix of songs, from the 1920s right up to the present day.

It starts at 12.30pm and all proceeds will go to Mayor Councillor Jaspal's chosen charities, Guide Dogs, St Peter's Collegiate Church and the Black Country branch of the MS Society. A St Patrick's Day celebration in the Mayor's Parlour on Monday (17 March, 2014) raised nearly £500 for the 3 good causes.

He said: "This promises to be a hugely enjoyable celebration of all things English, and we hope to raise hundreds of pounds for 3 very worthy causes."

Tickets are priced at £8 per person and places must be booked in advance.
