Quality in Wolverhampton

Fourteen businesses have now been given the seal of approval after being awarded Quality in Wolverhampton status.

Representatives from Ely House Hotel, City Bar, Wheaton House, Quadrant Lounge and Wightwick Manor collected their awards at a special ceremony. They will now be able to sport the scheme’s instantly recognisable purple W logo guaranteeing a high standard of service from well trained staff. Further to these businesses, The Mount Hotel and Conference Centre, Wolverhampton Civic Hall, The Novotel, The York Hotel, Oceana, Wolverhampton Art Gallery, Bantock House and Park and both the Moseley Park and City Centre Travel Inn have all been given the Quality in Wolverhampton Award.

Barbara Kay, head of development and tourism at Wolverhampton City Council which launched the Quality in Wolverhampton scheme last year, said: “Wolverhampton boasts a vibrant mix of employment, shopping, art, theatre, sport and nightlife, but whatever facilities people enjoy, a ‘quality experience’ is the top of the list for visitors, employees and residents alike.

“Our Tourism Action Plan outlined the need to raise standards in business, especially those contributing to the tourism industry, and led to the development of Quality in Wolverhampton.

“Customers are, rightly, no longer willing to put up with poor quality service and, as the offer increases with the continued regeneration of the city, so does the level of competition. Quality in Wolverhampton scheme members will stand out from the crowd.

“We are delighted to present awards to these five businesses, who have all proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that they provide a quality service that Wolverhampton can be proud of, and that our visitors can be assured of.”

The city council hopes to extend the scheme to more accommodation providers, attractions, food establishments and transport operators over the coming months in order to create a city-wide quality assurance scheme.
