The Community Recreation Healthy Lifestyle Team's role is to help residents improve their health and well being.

The Team are based at Graiseley Community Healthy Living Centre.

The Healthy Lifestyle Team aims to:-

  • Work with partners to improve the health and well-being of the community.
  • Provide information, advice, encouragement and support enabling everyone to make healthier choices
  • Develop community health improvement initiatives with Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust and Wolverhampton Primary Care Trust.
  • Provide opportunities to enjoy healthy, fun affordable activities.
  • Develop, manage and operate Graiseley Community Healthy Living Centre, Wolverhampton's first healthy living centre.

Be Active- Feel Better, Look Better and Live Longer

There are many benefits to being physically active. It improves your physical and mental health in many ways, and is one of the most important factors in maintaining a good quality of life.

Evidence shows that active people:

  • have a longer life
  • are less at risk of developing many diseases, including coronary heart disease, type ll diabetes, and stroke
  • maintain a healthy weight
  • are more likely to engage with new people
  • are free from stress and anxiety
  • have a more positive outlook on life

Partners we work with:

The team work in partnership with many other service providers including Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust and Wolverhampton Primary Care Trust. All Saints and Blakenhall Community Development(ABCD),Graiseley Primary School, Day Centres etc.

The team also have responsibility for Graiseley Community Healthy Living Centre providing exercise, fitness, training and educational activities at affordable prices for all ages.

The Healthy Lifestyle Team develop opportunities for residents to participate in regular exercise including:

Aerobics, Yoga, Fitness Training, Weight Training, Boxing, Dance Mats, Gym-Kids, Karate, Ju-Jitsu, Aikido, Kung-Fu, Thai Boxing, Thai-chi.
