Health Improvement Programme at Graiseley

The centre provides a range of opportunities for residents to improve their fitness, health and well being.

The centre works in partnership with several organisations and service providers including the Wolverhampton Primary Care Trust who deliver a programme of health improvement initiatives which are shown below.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Programme

3 sessions a week are held at the centre with participants using the fitness suite and the Dojo matted area for exercise to music.

The sessions are attended by residents who have undergone or are currently undergoing New Cross Hospitals rehabilitation programme. The sessions aim to improve the health of the heart and reduce the risk of a heart attack.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programme

The Pulmonary Programme works with individuals with respiratory problems who are enrolled on the programme delivered by Respiratory Physiotherapists from New Cross Hospital.

The Groups use the Fitness Suite, Yellow Room and the Dojo matted area. Education sessions are included in the programme. 

Falls Prevention Programme

The Wolverhampton Falls Prevention Programme is an initiative jointly funded by Wolverhampton Primary Care Trust and Wolverhampton Social Services. The Team deliver 2 sessions each week using the Dojo matted area for structured exercise. The sessions are aimed at residents who are 55 or over and who have one or more of the following;

  • Fear of Falling
  • Feel unstable when walking or standing
  • A history of falls
  • A low bone density

Each session includes endurance, strength and flexibility exercises. The programme aims to increase balance, co-ordination and confidence and improve bone and muscle mass.

Weight Management

A 12 week group programme, supporting individuals to change their eating and activity patterns. This includes a free assessment and access to the gym. Access to the programme is by referral from the individuals GP practice. Contact Nicola Evans 01902 445496 for more information.

Well Being Health Sessions

Improve your mental and physical well-being by attending any or all of the group sessions. We will cover a variety of topics that impact on your health. Refreshments are provided during the morning sessions. Places are limited so if you want to reserve a place call the Primary Care Mental Health Team on 01902 711104
