Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games 2008

Beijing Olympic Games 2008

The opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games takes place on 8 August 2008.

Sixteen days of intense competition will follow with more than 10,000 athletes from all over the world competing for the 302 Gold medals up for grabs.

Qualification events have taken place to decide Team GB athletes for the event.

Wolverhampton sport development team would like to congratulate the following Wolverhampton athletes who will be attending this Olympic Games

Beijing Paralympic Games 2008

The Beijing Paralympic Games will take place from 6 to 17 September 2008, involving 19 paralympic events. 

Wolverhampton sport development team would like to congratulate the following people who are Wolverhampton athletes and/or train in Wolverhampton who will be attending this years Paralympic Games.

  • Matt Byrne- Mens Wheelchair Basketball
  • Simon Munn- Mens Wheelchair Basketball
  • Sally Wager- Womens Wheelchair Basketball
  • Simon Hill- 5-a-side Blind Football
  • Alan Ash- Wheelchair Rugby
  • Chris Ellis- Wheelchair Rugby *

*Unfortunately Chris was selected but is now unable to attend due to medical reasons.
