What we do

We promote activity for the beginner through to world class athletes, coaches, officials and administrators and offer opportunity for those who wish to take part in active recreation for health and wellbeing or at a competitive level.

We aim, through sports initiatives to deal with a variety of issues from social integration and inclusion, health, community regeneration and crime and encourage the community as a whole to become active.

Using the specialist knowledge and skills of officers within the team, work is undertaken with partners to secure resources for quality assured delivery. We also work with sport specific development groups to promote and develop a number of sports.

We spend a significant amount of time signposting individuals to activities, where to play certain sports and answering queries relating to sport. We also organise our own holiday and term-time activities for children.

Sport Development services are Quest accredited, which is Sport England's UK quality scheme for sport and leisure.

Are you a student?

We receive regular enquiries from university and college students about the work of the team. Visit our students page to find out how to forward your requests to us.

We also receive numerous requests from school age young people requesting work experience. Find out our latest position on accepting work experience placements visit this link.
