Sports club registration

Previously the Sport Development Team would only recognise Clubmark accredited clubs. However we realise that not all clubs and groups have the resources to do this.

What is Wolverhampton Sport Development Club Registration Scheme?

It is a process that a club/group with junior sections offering sport/physical activity sessions can go through in order to prove to facilities and members of their clubs that they provide the minimum standards of operation required.

Sports club registration is not an alternative to the Clubmark process by Sport England, but a stepping stone for smaller clubs and those clubs that haven't yet began the Clubmark process or cannot use Clubmark as their sport is not recognised by Sport England.

What will the process entail?

Clubs will be asked to provide evidence that they have certain standards in place and once they can provide all of the required criteria the club will be registered.

After the initial meeting, an action plan will be devised by the Sport Development Team and this will be forwarded to you, to guide you through the process.

A member of the team will then follow up with you after a certain number of weeks to check progress and offer assistance with any difficulties.

Templates are provided to make a lot of the criteria easy to achieve.

Is there a cost?

No, the service is completely free.

So what is in it for us?

Your club/group/organisation will be registered with the scheme and therefore the Sport Development Team will promote your activity to its customers via their webpages and through its networks.

It will also allow the group to work with schools and also your contact details will be supplied to schools in order to promote you to their pupils. In the future when lots of groups are registered a directory of those registered will be available to schools.

For groups that go on to achieve Clubmark, they will have the opportunity to apply for £100 reward from the Black Country Be Active Partnership.

What do I have to do now to register my interest?

Contact us on the details below and we will arrange a meeting with you to discuss the scheme, give you a copy of the document and go through the criteria.
