Ranger service

The Rangers regularly patrol all of our Park sites

These patrols help them to monitor any maintenance problems and promote an effective and efficient response to issues.

Patrolling also gives the Rangers the opportunity to keep a protective eye on our local wildlife. Being aware of what is present and where it is located helps us to protect it.

The park ranger service operates on a 7 day per week basis throughout the year and covers parks including:

  • West Park
  • East Park
  • Bantock
  • Fowlers
  • Wednesfield
  • Hickman
  • Ashmore.

The Rangers organise many events/activities throughout the year.

The Rangers and Wolverhampton City Learning Centre

During January and February 2008, Wolverhampton City Learning Centre (WCLC) booked in 9 school groups with the ranger service at West Park.

Each visit was for a full day.  The activities included:

  • environmental games and activities
  • guided walk of West Park
  • effective use of digital cameras

The groups looked at the historical and natural features of the park.

Morning break and lunch were in the back room of the tea rooms.

The children took many photographs around West Park, including the centre flower beds, bandstand, clock, bridge and conservatory, click here to see some of them.
