Environment and Countryside Service

The Environment and Countryside Service is hosted by Parks and Contracts as part of the Leisure Services Directorate

The service has three main objectives:

  • To manage our sites for the benefit of wildlife
  • To enable the public to enjoy and learn about our natural environment
  • To enable volunteers to care for their local green spaces.

This is achieved by maintaining a number of nature reserves and producing management plans to encourage biodiversity on parks and green spaces across the city.  There is a programme of events and activities throughout the year, we produce free leaflets to encourage visitors to make the most of the countryside in Wolverhampton and walkers wanting to improve their health can use marked trails at a number of sites.

Volunteer and learning opportunities are also available at our sites.
