Trees
Trees contribute to the quality and character of urban life. They are the natural architecture of the city and provide many benefits to the everyday lives of those who live in, work in and visit Wolverhampton.
Trees in streets, open spaces, parks, woodlands and our own gardens are all important elements in the make up of our ‘urban forest’.
What do trees do for us?
• Health – They improve the quality of the air we breathe and can reduce stress. • Pollution – They can act as filters for harmful particles and chemicals. • Landscape – They soften the often grey and angular urban architecture. • Habitat – They provide habitat for wildlife. • Education – They are a valuable resource in providing conservation and environmental education. • Community – They provide opportunities for communities to work together in woodland projects and planting.
Parks and Contracts manage over 80,000 council owned trees across the city under the guidance of our specialist arboricultural officers. We aim to promote, maintain and preserve the tree stock for the benefit of the people of Wolverhampton and future generations.
