Weather

Has more snow and ice has been predicted?  Hopefully, it will miss us out this time.  Just a reminder when you're out and around Wolverhampton's Great Outdoors; to stay safe, warm and dry in the snow and please stay away from frozen lakes, ponds, canals and other open water.  The thaw can bring its own problems, as the ice may appear frozen.

Meet your rangers

Our park rangers

Our park rangers and environmental rangers are our public face

You are most likely to come into contact with the rangers - who support the back office staff; including:

  • Area managers responsible for ensuring development, grounds maintenance, health and safety and contract compliance across the city.
  • Horticulturists responsible for the design of shrubs and bedding schemes, roadside and traffic island planting.
  • Arboriculturists responsible for the condition, health and stability of our trees.
  • Parks staff strive to constantly develop, refurbish and enhance all of your publicly accessed green spaces; including parks, country parks and local nature reserves. Liaising with community groups and associations, creating/maintaining relationships with Friends Groups etc.
  • Maintaining conservation, education and increasing environmental awareness.
  • Securing funding bids and awards from local and national resources, ensuring restoration during our custodianship of these natural, local and environmentally enhancing sites.
  • Clerical/admin, business and finance staff responsible for:
    • ensuring best possible value for money when obtaining contracted services for grass cutting, grounds maintenance etc.
    • publicising and promoting our no/low cost events
    • from land management, event booking, memorials and sports pitches to record keeping
  • Allotment provision and co-ordination.

About our events

  • Most of our events are free.
  • It's not always necessary to book a place on our events, but doing so will always guarantee your place, if available.
  • Some workshops may charge a small fee to cover materials.

For more information about any fees, where to meet, what to wear etc. please call the rangers on the number detailed below, who will be happy to talk to you.
