Art Gallery Building Extension
Wolverhampton Art Gallery is coming to the end of a £6.7million project to develop two brand new triangular shaped galleries dedicated to display our Pop Art Collection and contemporary exhibitions.
The stunning design by Niall Phillips Architects has created a new and unique building, becoming a modern landmark in Wolverhampton City Centre. The building uses both traditional and modern building materials including steel, glass and terracotta, which will help to create a light and contemporary environment for visitors to enjoy.
The popular Gallery Café has had a facelift with a new mezzanine floor and brand new look to complete the transformation and is now open.
The new extension opens fully on 31 March 2007 and we are looking forward to bringing our visitors some exciting new exhibitions both in the existing building and in the new galleries.
The £6.7 million project has been made possible due to funding from Wolverhampton City Council, Heritage Lottery Fund and Advantage West Midlands amongst others.
