Dolls and Toys

Our Doll and Toy collection is made up of hundreds of historical dolls and toys from around the world make up .  Many of them were collected by Daisy Mander of Wolverhampton.  She gathered dolls in regional costumes on her trips round the world with the Girl Guide Association.  The collection also includes a range of European dolls from the 1800s and early 1900s.  As well as dolls for children, we have dolls with religious or ceremonial significance.

Local History

West Midlands led the world in the manufacture of decorative art and industrial design, and our Local History collection focuses on these skills.  We also have decorative items from the last four hundred years, owned, used and donated to us by Wolverhampton families.

Through generous gifts and the Bantock Bequest in 1941, we have good collections of local photographs and printed ephemera, which dovetail together with those held by the Archives & Local Studies.
