The Ground Floor Rooms

Albert and Kitty Baldwin, the former owners of Bantock House, would feel very much at home with the way the ground floor has been restored.  Now laid out as it would have been in its Edwardian heyday, the ground floor gives visitors a glimpse of past times.

Many of the items on display are from the Bantock's own collection, including a stunning japanned cabinet, a carved ivory chess set and pieces of English porcelain.

The Arts & Crafts Room

The first room that you see on entering the house has beautiful Arts and Crafts inspired decor with patterned wallpapers, decorative glass, wood panelling and an elaborate inglenook fireplace.

Books on the Arts and Craft movement are provided for you to dip into or for more extensive research on the subject.

The Garden Room

The Drawing Room

In the Bantock’s tranquil drawing room, you can find out about Baldwin and Kitty’s love of gardening.

Relax and take in the views of the gardens, which have been restored to Baldwin’s original designs – and remember to look out for a surprise in the paddock where the family used to keep Highland cattle!

The Dining Room

The Dining Room has been furnished to represent what the Bantock family’s dining room might have looked like one hundred years ago.

Here you can take a seat and flip through albums that tell the stories of the house and its occupants.
