Details of Central Library proposals

The proposed plans for Central Library will allow for:

  • the installation of an independently accessed lift to all floors of the Central Library
  • the creation of a new entrance, leading into a central ‘hub’ for information and direction around the building
  • improved access to books and information around the building
  • improved leisure reading areas
  • increased floor space easing pressure on bookshelves and study facilities
  • extended ranges of books, CDs, Videos and DVDs to support general readers and students attending the Adult Education Service or City of Wolverhampton College on the Learning Quarter site
  • ‘drop in’ computer access facilities
  • easy access toilets and other facilities for users with disabilities or carers with young children
  • a separate teen zone for 14 – 19 year olds
  • Snack and refreshment facilities
  • the creation of public meeting rooms and extended quiet study areas.
