Join the library - Children and young people (0-15 years)

Joining the library is easy and membership is free.

Library membership entitles users to use all facilities of the service from any of our libraries including ICT - there is no separate membership for PC use, but a declaration form must be completed by a parent or guardian to allow a child under 16 to use the Internet at any of our libraries.

In addition, young people aged 11 and over are allowed to use the adult Internet PCs at our libraries if this declaration form has been completed by a parent or guardian.

Join the library online

You can join the library by using the online form from the link below.

A library ticket, Internet declaration form and a chat room warning sheet will be posted to the parent or guardian at the member's home address.

Join the library in person

You can join the library from any department within Central Library or at any other of our libraries across the City.

You do not need to bring ID with you if you know your full address (including your postcode).

We will give you a library ticket which you can use straight away.

Your library card is issued subject to the byelaws of the libraries and in the joining the library you are agreeing to comply with these.

If at a later date you change your name, address or phone number please contact us so we can keep our records up to date.
