Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans

Soap operas, comedies, reality TV, quiz shows, music, politics, real life ... lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and trans people (LGBT) are visible in popular culture as never before.

But would you know this from visiting libraries?

Wolverhampton Libraries have built a broad collection of books and DVDs that will interest the LGBT (or just curious!) customer.

At Central Library, LGBT items have a small but bright rainbow sticker on the spine to help staff and customers find them easily on the shelves.

LGBT people are often closely linked but actually their interests and styles of writing are very different - not only from straight authors, but also from each other. Highlighting them makes it easier for readers to find the read they want.

Can you help us?

We have 2 questions that we'd like you to help us with:

  • Are we missing your favourite? Is there a book that you'd like to borrow but we don't stock it? Check our catalogue and please let us know. libraries@wolverhampton.gov.uk
  • We're deciding how to shelve our LGBT stock at Central Library. Would you prefer a dedicated LGBT section or would you prefer the LGBT books to be shelved with the rest of fiction and non-fiction books? Let us know your thoughts. libraries@wolverhampton.gov.uk
