Education Library Service

The Education Library Service is a specialist service for teachers and other educationalists in Wolverhampton. The service is offered to schools through a Service Level Agreement and can help teachers to: 

  • respond quickly to curriculum demands
  • develop their pupils learning experience
  • improve the quality of their school's resources

The service supports the Local Education Authority in the educational development of its pupils through the provision of resources and by assisting in the development of school libraries. The service also supports staff of schools by providing materials specifically aimed at educational topics.

What's available

As part of the Service Level Agreement the Education Library Service offers:

  • a wide range of resources related to all aspects of education. This includes book and non-book materials, both for classroom use and for professional development.
  • Project loans
  • an advisory package, subject to availability, which includes an initial school visit by the Librarian to discuss a school library action plan, plus 2 half day visits by ELS staff to assist with re-organisation of the school library and a stock audit.
  • to arrange meetings of the Secondary School Librarians' Group and Primary Library Co-ordinators network in order for staff to exchange information and ideas.
  • school staff visits to the ELS at Jennie Lee Centre in order to familiarise themselves with resources available.
  • INSET courses on aspects of organising school libraries, book selection, information skills at normal education INSET charges.

Opening Hours:

Monday 8.30 - 1pm, 2pm - 6pm
Tuesday - Thursday 8.30am - 1pm, 2pm - 5pm
Friday 8.30am - 1pm, 2pm-4.30pm

The Education Library Service is open during school holidays.
