Relocation to Molineux Hotel
Since 2005, work has been ongoing to transform the city's historic Molineux Hotel into the new home of the Wolverhampton Archives and Local Studies service. This work is now drawing to a conclusion, and is due to finish in October 2008. It will provide the Archives service with improved public facilities, as well as a state-of-the-art storage facility for its collection of documents, photographs and other materials relating to the history of the city.
Staff will soon begin the process of packing up the collections ready for the move into the Molineux. Because of the complicated nature of this move it does mean that, for a limited period of time, Wolverhampton Archives will not be open to the public.
Wolverhampton Archives will close to the public on Friday 31st October 2008 and re-open at the Molineux Hotel in February 2009.
During this closed period, documents held in the archive's collections will not be available. An email and telephone helpline will operate, offering advice for anyone with general questions about our collections, and suggesting possible alternatives.
Please note that staff will not be able to carry out detailed research on behalf of enquirers.
