Summary of the Children's Fund

The summary of the Children's Fund gives information on:

  • what you said is important to you
  • what we want to make better
  • participation
  • how to find out more.

What is important to you

When we asked you what was important, you said the most important things to you were:

  • going on trips and holidays
  • being able to play with friends.

Adults said a lot of the problems are because of:

  • Having no money
  • Bullying
  • Family breakdown

What we want to make better

There are lots of things we want to make better for children and their families, we will do this by working on the four areas below.

Well-being

  • Help for children that are being bullied.
  • Someone to talk to when there are problems at home like when parents split up.
  • Making sure children and parents get health workers.
  • Help to make children feel safe from crime or harm.

Playing well

We want to make sure that you have:

  • More fun and more chances to play.
  • More chances for children with disabilities to play.
  • Trained staff to provide safe play.

Learning well

  • Help for children to do better at school.
  • A Walking Bus company to help children walk to school.
  • More things going on for children and their families inside school.
  • Help to support travelling children and asylum seekers in school.

Participation

We have listened to you and there is now:

  • A School's Council worker that will help you to have a say in school and where you live.
  • Training for people who work with children so they can support you in getting involved.
  • Young Voices events that will let you have a say and be involved in your area.

How can I find out more?

You can contact us by phoning 551960 or writing to us at 16a Temple Street, Wolverhampton, WV2 4AN.
