The TMO was formed in February 1994 and is a society registered under the provisions of the Industrial and Provident Societies Act 1965.
Since December 2001 industrial and provident societies have been registered by the Mutual Societies Registration section of the Financial Services Authority (FSA). These organisations have the same limited liability as companies registered under the Companies Acts.
