Why monitor housing markets?

Housing data and information can tell us a lot about what is happening in a local housing market. Examining this over time indicates whether housing markets are stable, strengthening or weakening.

Monitoring the housing market allows the City Council to better understand imbalances in the supply and demand of housing across the City from a cross tenure perspective.

This provides the evidence that then aids officers and partners to plan housing provision across the City, design interventions to help regenerate declining areas, redress imbalances across housing markets and develop policy that assists in these processes.
