Housing Strategy 2004/05 to 2006/07

The following sections outline the current Housing Strategy. For easier navigation the strategy has been divided into summaries of each section and appendix along with PDF files of each section.

Summary and overview

The Housing Strategy identifies Wolverhampton strategic housing partnership’s vision and direction for housing for the next three years.

The document builds on our achievements to date and supports the Council’s corporate priority to regenerate and sustain local neighbourhoods and it is also designed to help deliver key national, regional and sub regional strategies.

Developing the strategy has involved extensive consultation with partners, stakeholders and residents.

The Housing Strategy reviews housing and related issues across the City in both the public and private sectors.

It sets out agreed objectives and priorities for action, and sets out how these will be delivered. This is done through clear action plans that identify the financial and staffing resources needed to deliver key actions within agreed timescales

Government Office for the West Midlands has assessed the Housing Strategy 2004/05 to 2006/07 as ‘fit for purpose’; this is the national standard all local authority housing strategies must meet.

Further information regarding fit for purpose criteria is available from the Department of Communities and Local Government.

Our focus is now on delivering all the actions set out in the strategy, to achieve the City’s vision for housing.
