Housing Strategy Annual Review 2007/08

The city-wide Housing Strategy 2004 to 2007, sets out the vision and direction for housing in Wolverhampton. An annual review took place to take account of and respond to any changes in national, regional and local policies, extending the life of the Housing Strategy to 2007/08.

Housing strategy review document

The review of the housing strategy has now been agreed with the four ongoing priorities as set out in the Housing Strategy 2004 - 2007:

1. To make all neighbourhoods safe, popular and desirable
2. To ensure there is an adequate supply of housing which meets needs and aspirations
3. To especially ensure that people with special needs, or who are vulnerable, have appropriate housing and support
4. To ensure that all housing stock in Wolverhampton is in good condition

The review includes:

• the achievements and shortfalls to date against the Housing Strategy vision
• sets out the context by providing an up to date strategic overview of the key drivers in operation at a national, regional, sub regional and local level
• summarises the key characteristics of and imbalances across housing markets across the City
• provides updates on local responses to the 4 key priorities of the Housing Strategy
• sets out an up to date action plan for 2007/08

Consultation

The review of the housing strategy was undertaken in consultation with stakeholders. This included a stakeholder event in January 07 where key stakeholders as well as members of the public were invited to share their views on key housing issues to be reflected in the review.
