Health Through Warmth Scheme
What are the aims of the scheme
Health Through Warmth is a scheme to help tackle the issue of fuel poverty, associated cold-related illnesses and excess winter deaths. It provides energy efficiency measures and central heating systems where they are most needed.
The programme aims to:
- Work in partnership to improve the health and living conditions of the more vulnerable people in local communities.
- Identify these people quickly through existing key workers in the local community
- Provide the best possible measures, help and advice appropriate to the household’s needs.
- Provide a crisis fund to finance measures for people who are not eligible for government and other grants.
- Monitor, measure and report progress.
What help is available?
Health Through Warmth may be able to assist with:
- Cavity wall and loft insulation
- Boiler repairs or replacement (if broken)
- Heating systems or appliances
- Solar hot water systems
- Internal wall insulation
- Energy efficiency advice
- Access to grants and other funds
Who can apply?
Anyone with a cold or damp related illness can apply for help providing they live within Wolverhampton or another Health Through Warmth area e.g. Walsall or Dudley. This includes home owners, people in private rented accommodation and Council tenants. Please note that grants cannot be awarded to Council tenants but we can look at prioritising the work needed under the Decent Homes Programme if considered a priority depending on the health condition.
All cases will be treated on their individual circumstances and we cannot guarantee that we can provide assistance to everyone who applies.
