The vast majority of domestic dwellings will require an Energy Performance Certificate to be issued when a property is re-let or sold from the 1st October 2008. This section explains what is required in light of the new directive.

A number of grants are available to improve the energy efficiency of privately rented properties in Wolverhampton. By accessing these grants you can increase the energy rating of your property thereby making it more attractive to prospective tenants.
Private landlords in the Warmzone area
If you are an MLAS (Midland Landlord Accreditation Scheme) accredited landlord you can, whilst funds allow, apply for a Warmzone Landlord grant towards the cost of central heating and/or double-glazing at any properties that you rent out within the ABCD area.
On completion of the grant, the Council will carry out an energy performance assessment and will provide you with an Energy Performance Certificate, free of charge. For further information about the landlord grant scheme, please contact Alan Rowley on 01902 551345.

With soaring energy prices and general rises in the cost of living, making sure the place you rent is energy efficient will help reduce your fuel bills and keep the property warmer.

How do I get an EPC?
An accredited Domestic Energy Assessor can undertake this survey and details of who can provide this service can be found on the Landmark website . Alternatively the Council can carry out the assessment as well as advise you on appropriate grants.
