Respite care for families and children

Social Services provides respite care for parents/carers of children. The aim is to provide carers opportunities for free time, rest and holidays and a break from their demanding role. This care may be provided in a residential or a family setting.

As well as recruiting foster carers and adoptive parents, the Family Placement Team also recruits respite carers to provide planned breaks for children, particularly those with a disability. This service is accessed for children through a core assessment undertaken by the social work team.
